Everyone is familiar with the work of Rodgers and Hammerstein: Oklahoma, The King and I, The Sound of Music, etc. But before Oscar Hammerstein, there was Lorenz Hart. Over a period of twenty years, he and Richard Rodgers wrote more than 500 songs for 28 musicals. Many have become jazz standards: for example, Where or When; Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered; Dancing on the Ceiling; My Funny Valentine; The Lady is a Tramp.
In Broadway Cabaret: An Evening of Rodgers & Hart, three well-known local performers--Sara Forbes, Gary Blackwood and Kaden Mattinson--offer up a wide-ranging selection of the team's most popular show tunes, along with stories about their lives and careers.
The cabaret-style show is in support of the Grace Jollymore Joyce Arts Centre. Performances will be at the Grace on Friday, November 6 at 7 pm and Sunday, November 8 at 3 pm. Seating is limited to 75 people, with social distancing. Tickets are $20 and available here (https://thegrace.simpletix.ca/e/59647), in our box office (Wednesday through Saturday from 10 - 4 and Sunday from 12 -4), or by phone at (902) 657 3500.
