As we reckon with our past, look forward to our future, and challenge the norms we take for granted, we thought this year, instead of a Canada Day concert, we would celebrate Indigenous talent. The performance, featuring fiddler Morgan Toney with Keith Mullins, from Eskasoni an upcoming hip hop artist Gearl, and hosted by comedian Clifton Cremo, will not be celebrating Canada this year. Instead, we're going to join together, celebrate the differences between us, and shoot for a future based in reconciliation, in understanding one another, and in appreciating how we got here and the ways we can build that better future. We think it appropriate to take this year, with all its existing stresses, to not focus on our nation--there's so much of the rest of the year earmarked for directly and indirectly celebrating Canada. So let's give this year to something else. To recognize voices not always invited to the discourse of power. To a nation here long before us. And let's have a time while we do it.
Just because it isn't a Canada Day concert doesn't mean it will be a dull concert. Prepare yourself for some of this side of the world's top talent.
We continue to recognize and mourn the ongoing tragedy of residential schools. At no moment do we want to take attention away from the importance of this moment. This moment where we have an opportunity to repent and change. We're all treaty people. So let's start acting like it. But with a recognition of this tragedy in mind, we also believe in celebrating together. Our future will be better than our past and not because we hoped or prayed for it. No, it will be better because we decided on it. Together.
Doors at 6:30pm. Show at 7:00pm.

We acknowledge that the Grace is built on the unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq and that we continue to profit, prosper, and live off of this land. We are grateful for the privileges we carry and we intend to use them for the good of not those in power, but those who are marginalized in our society.
